Gambling Harm Education Resource Tool
Where is Gambling Taking You?
The production of a suite of gambling harm education resources built around a series of first-person videos.
About the project
Continuing our partnership with the Department of Justice, Office of Liquor and Gambling Regulation, IM developed a gambling harm education resource built around a series of videos. Titled “Where is Gambling Taking You?”, the resource uses first-person perspectives to explore how gambling affects individuals, families and communities, complementing existing community education modules delivered by Gambling Help educators.
The challenge
Consultation with communities and professionals across Queensland showed a need for resources that reflected personal journeys and real-life choices. The material needed to remain engaging while presenting gambling harm as a health issue, similar to alcohol or drug misuse, and showing its effects without blame or stigma.
The solution
IM created community-led, first-person scenario videos grounded in real-world contexts. Viewers are placed in the driving seat, with split-path choices that reveal how addiction and temptation can extend beyond individual gambling behaviour. Co-design and culturally appropriate messaging shaped the content, supported by tailored animations, print materials and voiceovers.
The results
The completed resource gives Gambling Help educators an accessible and innovative tool for community education. It complements the existing module suite, promotes responsible gambling practices and helps audiences consider the broader consequences of their choices through relatable stories and practical learning materials.
